Taking a look at how the area we live in can influence graphic and web design - bournemouthHere at South Coast Design, we're always reminded of how fortunate we are to be situated between two of the most iconic areas of the South of England, Bournemouth and Poole. Both areas are renowned for their history, landscape and above all being tourist hot spots for their golden, sandy beaches. Sandbanks, based in Poole, was voted the #4 in 'Best Beach in Europe' in 2016 and as such has received funding to keep it this way and implement more crowd friendly features to the area. But what does this have to do with Web Design? All good web design bottles down to proper planning, end-user research and a keen creative and modern flair from the designer, creativity is often inspired by the places we grew up, the places we live in and the atmosphere of our local culture. Having had the opportunity to speak to hundreds of local companies within the Bournemouth and Poole area, when it came to the style of their websites they more often than not mentioned that the imagery they chose, the layout of the pages and the features they included were all nodding towards representing themselves as professionals of the Bournemouth and Poole area. Which makes sense, if your business relies on the footfall of local trade and being seen as the GO-TO company for Bournemouth or Poole, you'll want to highlight the importance of your commitment to your local patrons. When designing a website for a local business we often recommend adding hero images of local landmarks with their products super imposed into the foreground, or having a section of their website focus on testimonials from other satisfied local customers. You'd be surprised how much of an impact this can have on your end-users buying decision. Statistics show 76% of buying decisions are made when a company displays trust and transparency about where they operate and what local reach they haveSo, think about it, the next time you're building a marketing campaign, or new visuals for your website, think about your local audience and if you're starting from scratch, build a website that incorporates these features and watch the positive feedback roll in.

SOUTH COAST DESIGN HOPS ON THE POKéMON GO BANDWAGON WITH A USEFUL COMPLETE GUIDE TO POKéSTOP LURE MODULE SPAWNS.Pokéstops aren't just the best places to get free goodies. As you are probably already aware you can activate a lure module on a pokéstop to attract a whole host of different pokémon to your location without you having to walk around to catch them, which has quickly become a huge part of the meta of the game, with prime locations in various cities being used as pokéstop farms by activating 3+ lure modules at the same time to give an unlimited source of pokémon to catch. But are all Pokéstops created equal? The answer is... NO. They aren't. From the research we have done so far we have been able to ascertain that there are two tiers of Pokéstop which, in turn allow various rates of rarity Pokémon to spawn when a lure module is active. Long story short: BETTER POKEMON WILL SPAWN AT CERTAIN POKESTOPS WHEN A LURE MODULE IS ACTIVE THAN OTHERS. Because we are based on the South Coast of the UK we thought we'd use one of our local hot Pokéstop spots as an example. POOLE QUAY POKéSTOP FARMThis is without a doubt the most popular spot in Poole for playing Pokémon Go. Poole Quay directly outside Custom House Bar & Restaurant, there are 6 Pokéstops within 2 minutes of each other and almost always full lure modules being placed at peak social times throughout the day.
Almost everybody will sit along the Quay front steps at the three central Pokéstops and catch Pokémon to their hearts content, however some of the more casual players aren't aware that either side of them there exists two TIER TWO Pokéstops which have a higher % chance of spawning a rarer Pokémon. Almost 80% of all rare spawns on the Quay as a direct result of a lure module (not including random spawns) occur at these two Pokéstops, which often means the people sat farming Pokémon in the central three lures often miss out on a good catch unless other players inform them of a rare spawn. The best possible way to play Pokémon Go down Poole Quay is to farm the middle 3 Pokéstops and every 2 minutes walk down to each tier 2 pokéstop (if a lure module is active) to have a higher chance of not missing any of the tier 2 level spawns. Some examples of common Tier 2 rare spawns that occur at these two Pokéstops include:
(Please note these % chances are not exact and are just compiled from our team of researchers findings over a 2 week period.) We hope you found this new information useful and as a result you find some rare Pokémon. Fast cars, Adrenaline fueled action & loud exhausts - that's what is to expect at next years bournemouth wheels festival 2017.So, what can we say about this years Bournemouth Wheels Festival? Plenty that's for sure... If having over 4,000 local vehicles, supercars, formula one cars and classic cars going full throttle along the sunny shores of Bournemouth's seafront isn't enough for you, then what about all of the additional spectacles like quad bike racing, monster trucks, BMX, skateboarding & bike stunts? In fact the Bournemouth Wheels Festival perfectly encompasses everything that the name suggests, anything entertaining or fun with Wheels just about took part. South Coast Design, one of Bournemouth & Poole's leading web development, marketing & graphic design agencies in partnership with Swains Garage got the pleasure of hosting one of the most iconic public convoys to take place over the weekend. Our aim was to enjoy the spirit of the Bournemouth Wheels Festival and everything about it, by inviting the general public to take part in a fun, controlled convoy around Bournemouth town centre showing off their cars and enjoying the festivities as much as possible, as well as making some noise and giving the thousands of spectators the show of a lifetime. Over the course of the weekend over 150 local car enthusiasts took part, with the convoy attracting media attention locally as well as a host of professional photographers lining up outside the Royal Bath Hotel to get a glimpse of all of the cars. As a result of the amazing feedback we received from organising the event we will push extremely hard to run another convoy again next year and hope for it to be bigger, better and far more involved. Until next year! We're just as excited as everyone else to find out what Adobe creative cloud has in store for us in 2016.What to expect from Adobe Creative Cloud in 2016, it's looking like it's going to be a year for more mobile apps, better stock media and better tools for larger companies as well as home users. Vice President Mala Sharma revealed in a conference call to a selection of journalists recently that the companies future plans were broad and emphasis on more mobile tools. The main desktop tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign & After effects were barely mentioned, with the exception of the new user interface design which we're expecting to see some tweaks on in early 2016. Mobile apps are a large proportion of Adobe creative cloud's future plans, and Apple made a big deal about targeting creative pros with its iPad Pro at the launch of the new smaller model earlier this week.
From using the tool, I doubt it would need the performance only found on a laptop that you'd need to run Photoshop or Illustrator. So why no XD for iOS? Adobe's VP is looking to the future and predicts a time when applications aren't just limited to single features, but fully comprehensive tools that can be used on the move or during meetings for immediate revisions. These new features would sync the projects you're working on to the cloud so that you can continue work back at your studio or even during the meeting itself. From Adobe's current app line-up, we're still some distance from there - but most creatives would like to be able to work from iPad to desktop as effortlessly as they can with email, Slack or Evernote. Get in touch with us on our brand new corporate line 0844 824 0009As most of us have probably been aware of, we've desperately needed to get ourselves a new business number, a memorable and catchy one that we could have a silent giggle about in the South Coast Design offices... we are now happy to announce that that day has finally arrived. "If you need, a bit of design call 0844 824 0009..." Thanks to the wonderful telecommunications company in Bournemouth Data Telecom, we're now all set up to listen to all of your woes and problems... we always wanted to be telephone therapists. But in all seriousness, this has been long overdue. It's been fair to say that it's been one hell of a busy start to 2016. We've taken on a whole host of new clients and we're even helping out The Arts Institute of Bournemouth with a lecture on the effect of customer psychology on marketing and brand awareness in February of this year. Exciting!
It's come after being nominated for a host of different graphic design awards in Bournemouth and being proud of what we do, so for that we are truly grateful. We couldn't do it without you guys.
